| Phil Bancroft introduced himself to me at the Dunfermlne Jazz Festival in 19oatcake . Scotland then was experiencing a renaissance in its jazz scene, alongside Thatcherism and Poll Tax, all complimented each other perfectly. After i heard him play i realised Scotland now had at least 3 world-class tenor saxophonists, each very different, each unique. We became firm friends despite a common lack of understanding . Phil added his Tenor to "Time goes on" late october 09, recording at home in Embra . He likes to talk , does a great impression of a cuddly toy and blows from somewhere deep in his soul. |
