Jock Ferguson

Jock recorded this narrative in 1998, over several sessions in Balmerino and we had great fun utilising his numerous vocal possibilities and ranges. Actors are great fun to work with and not unlike Jazz musicians, in that there is improvising involved in the pursuit of attitude or character. Jock is a relentless seam of characters and voices with an attitude volume (Spinal Tap) that goes to 11!!.

He continues to delight and entertain audiences in multiple roles, in multiple venues across Scotland. He is also a talented Filmaker and musician.

Jocks name is linked to his bio on IMDB.

Peter came to Balmerino twice and we recorded most of the story. The 1st session was the day before the premiere and was more about prepping for the gig than a serious recording. More about the Geography of the piece and the Narrative style and it was an exercise in prudence which exposed a flaw and which then demanded hours of re-writing parts for the gig!.

He came back a week later and we focused on his St Peter character and had such a great laugh we never got the entire story done. We had intended to spend another day but Peter landed a place at the RSC and we just never managed to get another session organised. His St Peter was a single take towards the end of the day and we knew it was a classic.

Peters name is linked to a wonderful eulogy on his life and work.

Chanced my mitt and asked Andy if he would record the Narrative. He agreed and we started the process at 'The Forge' in Glen ? in September 2017.

We of course dabbled with the St Andrew possibilities and who knows we may do one. It was great fun and might work?.

In the end i asked him to deliver the story like he was reading it to his daughter. I also added a new landmark on the beat into the text.

Andrews name is inked to his website.
